Burrowing Owl in Canyon, Texas Book Signing Coming Up!

Updated: Apr 15

Due to a scheduling problem, this signing has changed to May 2nd I am pleased to announce that I will be hosted by Burrowing Owl Books in Canyon, Texas, April 25th from 1 to 2pm for my latest historical fiction, Fellow Warriors of Company K.

Our tale is woven into the nation’s massive post-Civil War westward expansion. It’s1873 when Union Cavalry officer and fort builder Sam Nabors, unable to resolve the brutal murders of his family during the war, faces one more assignment. It will be his final mission, but one which could become a death trap in remote and desolate Eastern New Mexico territory. Nabors gets orders when all he really wants is to retire to his southeast Kansas farm where he lost his family. But he responds patriotically and leads an unlikely command of old Union comrades, young untried officers, Southern military retreads, and Black Buffalo Soldiers in the most harrowing gauntlet of his career. The characters are complex and memorable, the plot loaded with action, suspense, retribution and unexpected romance.

This novel was begun more than 35 years ago by my father, the late Arch E. Gibson, after several lengthy careers; WW II Army artillery officer, newsman and publisher, legislative staffer to former Colorado U.S. Representative Frank Evans, and Assistant Denver Regional Administrator, U.S. General Services Administration.  Born in Cushing, OK, former Indian Territory, he had a good sense of history. As a former World War II veteran he also had a keen sense of patriotism and began to write about his role in the war. He finally reached the U.S. Cavalry and the seeds of this story. When his life began to wane, he turned his manuscript over to me, with this request:

“See if you can’t do something with this.”

I finally did. After self-publishing seven novels: the Bear Kotah series, a novel of fictional biography about the Kotah family founder, Wasape, and a lively dystopian novel, Sands of the Cyclops, about Civil War Two.
